Started in 2015 by a group of concerned citizens, the Fairbanks Opioid Workgroup provides a forum to discuss the opioid epidemic in Fairbanks and its surrounding areas; focused on education, prevention, intervention, recovery & program funding.

What: Representatives from Fairbanks Wellness Coalition will present their four strategies to address prescription opioid misuse and heroin use in teens and young adults. They will also discuss actions community members can take to help prevent opioid misuse.
About: The Fairbanks Wellness Coalition received the Partnerships for Success Grant from the State of Alaska in 2016 to address Retail Availability, Social Availability and Perception of Risk for Harm of prescription opioid misuse and heroin use. After conducting a needs assessment around this issue, a strategic plan was developed to address this issue in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.
We'll also have an opportunity for agencies to provide an update or make an announcement.
